So, you’ve registered, right? Logged in? Great!
The main page (or pages) come in two flavors. “Jump” pages usually precede “posts”. Jump pages are menus to the posts, where the real “content” resides. Posts also harbor user feedback (replies) - jump pages do not. You don’t need to be registered or logged in to see any of this, only if you want to participate. That is why you’re here, right?
The Main Page comments are intended to reflect the material above them, adding to the record, and we appreciate conciseness and decorum. If you’re looking to discuss a topic at length, or just blab at random, then you should check out the Discussion Forum. It’s not as rigid.
Easy enough. Type in the box and hit “Submit”. Where’d it go? If this was your first time, your comment has gone into “moderation”. We get an e-mail notification, peruse your comment and approve it, hopefully. We excercise editorial control, but this actually has more to do with catching spam than editing or censoring. We can always do that later.
Once we approve your first comment they’re not held again, they go right up as is. We’re still notified so we can have a look. We administrators can edit your comment, and we will ocassionally insert responses from us or others into your comment, as if you started a side discussion and we made an annotation. It’s how we grow the story, by grafting.
If your comment pertains to a point above it (which it should), we are likely to link to it from that point. When you see yellow text in the post body it is usually a reference to a comment below.
